MR. WILLIE LEE RANKIN was born March 15, 1936 in Waynesboro, MS. He was the eighth child born to the late Everlean Rankin.
WILLIE was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-one years, Katherine G. Rankin; five sisters: Lucille Carter, Eddie M. McDonald, Ophelia Wesley, Gertrude Pace and Dottie McSwain; and six brothers: Charlie (K. C. ) Rankin, Ray Stallworth, Odell Rankin, Navell Rankin, Aaron Gray, and Percy Rankin.
WILLIE departed his life on April 28, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.
WILLIE joined Magnolia M. B. Church at an early age where he remained devoted until his health declined. He retired from Masonite Corporation of Laurel, MS after working 31 years. Willie enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his devoted, loving,and caring children: Douglas (Donna) Thompson, Michael (Charity) Grsy, Kathy (Leslie) Hundley, Charlotte (Charles) Lewis, Patrice (David) Rankin-Borruel all of Waynesboro, MS, Dennis (Sarah) Thompson of Augusta, GS, Vivian D. Nelson and Vanessa D. Propes of Ft. Worth, TX; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a devoted nephew, Charles R. Carter and a kind and loving neighbor, Melva Brown to carry forth his legacy of love.
Funeral services will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Magnolia Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS, with Rev. Willie E. Rankins officiating. Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery.
There will be a viewing period for Mr. Rankin Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
