Velma Denise Owens

Velma Denise Owens, lovingly known as “Neace”, was born on January 30. 1960,  to the late Hiamon and Lourenda Owens in Laurel, MS.

Velma departed this life on March 9, 2024, at her hame surrounded by her family.

Velma was a former member of Mt. Zion Church of God In Christ and later joined Faith Christian Land Center. She was a devoted mother. grandmother, and caregiver to many children in the community. She laved spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were here parents Hiamon and Lourenda Owens, daughter Marquita Owens, four sisters: Graceline Conerly, Lenora Walker, Mary Louise Simpson, and Verna Owens.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories daughter Trenise Owens of State Line, MS. three sons: Earl Owens, Travis Owens, and Kevin Owens all of State Line, MS., five grandchildren: Marquez Leverette, Marquise Leverette, Kendarris Owens, Jamari Owens, and Julius Owens all of State Line, MS., one sister Mary Jane Owens of Buckatunna, MS., two goddaughters: Tiffany (Bernard) Walker of Waynesboro, MS and Chantaria Kirby of State Line, MS., one Godson:  Terrance Walker of Waynesbora, MS., a loving and devoted companion Sammie Woodard of Chatom, AL and a host of nieces.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at State Line Cemetery with Elder Lynch as the officiant. 

There will be a viewing period Friday, March 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
