Thomas “T-Bird” Mayo

Thomas Lenworth Mayo (T-Bird), 80 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2023 at Bedford Care Center in Petal, MS.  He was born in Richton, MS to the union of Tommy and Mildred (nee Powe) Mayo.

He was employed as a  logger all his life and loved talking about it.

MR. MAYO had many interests.  They were:  fishing, hunting, dirt-track racing, old cars, and telling stories about his logging days.  He also loved to mess with people and make them laugh. Even though he loved to fish, he would not touch any kind of worm, cricket, or any other creepy-crawly bug. He would only use minnows unless someone else baited his hook. 

The many enjoyable memories left by Mr. “T-Bird” will be cherished  by: one daughter, Lynette Creel, one son and daughter in law, Michael and Heather Kitchens; three stepsons:  James, John, and Arthur Kitchens, and his grandchildren: Lineta Pulliam, Dewayne Hollingshead, Dakota Creel, Kane Kitchens, Brock Pearson, and Kace Pearson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents:   Tommy and Mildred Mayo; 5 sisters and 1 brother:  Cricket, Louidelle, Kitty, Pete, Dean, and Earl. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Eastside Baptist Church Cemetery in Richton, MS with Pastor Chris Cooper as the officiant.
