Shenika Lynett Thompson, also known as “Niki,” 46, of Norcross, GA, was called home to God on January 6, 2023 at 1:15 AM. Shenika was born on July 31, 1976 to the late Carrie Lou Dixon Thompson and Douglas Thompson in Laurel, MS. She was a kind hearted and loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
She was the only child of Douglas Kennedy Thompson and the eldest of four children born to the late Carrie Lou Dixon. Shenika was full of life, adventure, and possessed the most gentle, caring, and loving spirit.
She attended Jones County Junior College and later attended Full Sail University, acquiring a B. S. in Music Business. She moved to Georgia in 2003 and remained there with her children throughout the rest of her days.
Shenika worked as a legal clerk and enjoyed taking trips and creating memories with her family and friends. She was beloved by all of her family and cherished each moment spent with them.
Shenika was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Carrie Mae Dixon and Katherine G. Rankin and her mother, Carrie Lou Dixon.
She is survived by her father: Douglas (Donna) Thompson, Waynesboro MS; three loving children: Khadejah Thompson, Stone Mountain, GA, Allylion Thompson, Norcross, GA, and Xyon Thompson, Norcross, GA; two beautiful granddaughters: MaKayla Dixon and Samara Givens, Stone Mountain, GA; a loving and supportive spouse, Torrey Cook, Atlanta, GA; two sisters: Dina Santoyo, Atlanta, GA and Amber Brinkley, Alpharetta, GA, and one brother: Cory Brinkley, Tucker, GA; two stepsisters and three stepbrothers: Randi (Justin) Robinson, Waynesboro, MS, Courtney (Cleo) McGrew of Silas, AL, Cory (Shameka) Clanton of Monroeville, AL, Koshon Clanton and Kenneth Johnson, both of Waynesboro, MS.
Funeral services for Ms. Shenika Thompson will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Luke MB Church, with Rev. Donald E. Miller as the officiant.
There will be a viewing period and wake for Ms. Thompson Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
