Obituary

MORRIS HARDY, 79, of Moss Point, MS, passed away at his residence on August 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Morris was born on May 7, 1944 to the late Nolan Hardy and Minnie Hill in State Line, MS. He attended Leakesville High School. In 1964, he married his childhood friend and the love of his life…the late Lula Bell. They had seven children born to their union. 
 

Mr. Hardy worked at Ingalls Shipyard for many years before retiring. He loved spending time with his family and connecting with them through laughter. Mr. Morris was also a fan of boxing. He enjoyed watching Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier on television. 
 

He was preceded in death by his wife:  Lula Bell Hardy; his parents:  Nolan and Minnie Hill; son:  Michael Hardy; stepdaughter: Mary Hawthorne; grandson:  Sinclair Hardy; twin sister:  Doris Hardy; Magellan Evans, Susie Cyrus, Lula Mae Miller, Betty Hardy; brothers:  John L. Hardy, Nolan Hardy, Jr., L.W. “Sweet” Hardy; and a nephew:  Nathaniel Franks, Jr.

He leaves his cherished memories with eight sons:  Danny Hardy of Moss Point, MS, Terry (Wanda) Hardy, Bogalusa MS, Marvin Hardy of Moss Point, MS, Reginald Coleman of Ocean Springs, MS, Charles (Deven) Hardy of Moss Point, MA, Morris Allen Hardy, Alvin Hardy, and Oliver Hardy all of Moss Point, MS; one devoted daughter and caregiver, Minnie (Dewitt) McMillian of Dawes, AL; brothers in law:  George Leggins of Toledo, OH, JC (Carolyn) Brown of State Line, MS. Curtis (Shelia) Brown of Pascagoula, MS; one devoted granddaughter:  Samantha (Jerome) Cunningham; two step grandsons:  Anthony Hawthorne and Christopher Hawthorne; one devoted great granddaughter and caregiver:  Passion Hardy; other grandchildren:  Amanda (Bobby) Jones, Tabitha Johnson, Jasmine White, Jayvon Hardy, Jayson Hardy, Michael Hardy, John Hardy, and Christopher Harris; other great-grandchildren:  Precious Cunningham, Paris Hardy, Azria Hardy,Sanclaria Hardy, Bobbie Jones, Ariyana Johnson, Micah Hardy, Mikelynn Hardy, Sierra Harris, Dejiah Harris, Chanon Harris, Milani Harris; Zellex hardym Malik Hardy, Emmanuek West, Jajun Prince, Juel Prince, Armoni Hardy, Christopher Harris, Jr., and Jayceon Harris; great-great grandchildren:  Kaylani, Hezekiahand Elias; one devoted nephew:  Garry Leverette; other nephews:  Johnny Leverette, Bruce (Rhonda) Leverette, Larry (Patricia) Hardy, Tyrone Hardy, Willie Chestnut, Danny Hardy, Dale Hardy, and Leonard Frost; one devoted niece:  Rose Leverette; other nieces:  Rita Hardy, Percy McFarland Harris, Addie Spiller, Rosie Kelley, Linda Jones, Sherry Jones, Gracie Hardy-Warren, Jennifer Hardy, Shalear Frost-Chambers, and Faye Doyle.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Turner Gulf Funeral Service Chapel, 1809 Telephone Rd., Pascagoula MS, with interment following at State Line Cemetery.  Rev. Berling Keeton was the officiant.  

There was a viewing period Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Turner Gulf Funeral Service Chapel in Pascagoula, MS.
