Monroe Causey, Sr. Obituary

MR. MONROE CAUSEY, SR. was born October 25, 1933 to the late Elias and Nara Murphy-Causey. He completed his earthly journey on Friday, April 8, 2022, after an extended illness.

Monroe, affectionately known as “Coop,” was born and raised in Silas, Alabama. He was a hard worker who worked in the logging business for many years. He also farmed and was a loving provider for his family. Monroe was the type of person who would help anyone and never missed the opportunity to express his love for his family. His favorite pastime was fishing. One of his favorite fishing places was known as “Judy Sleu” in Womack Hill. That is where he would go to get peace of mind and spend time with the Lord.

Monroe joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He was an active member who attended church during the pandemic, when services were held in the parking lot. He attended church services until his health would not allow him to attend any longer.

Monroe married Rose Ann Bolden-Causey at a young age. To this union, eight children were born. Monroe was later united in marriage to Dorothy (Juanita) Longmire.

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Nara Causey; wife and mother of his children, Rose Ann Causey; grandson, Brandarius Hill; great grandsons, Kylie Myers and Milan Causey; eight sisters:  Ruthie Philon, Annie Ree Pauley, Fannie McDonald, Bessie Hill, Bernice Pauley, and Bobbie Jean Causey; two brothers: Oscar Causey, Sr., and E. C. Causey, III.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories:  a loving wife, Juanita Causey; six daughters:  three devoted, Patricia (Marvin) Causey, Patsy Causey, and Kanitra (Marcus) Gilmore; Brenda (Sylvester) Powe-Johnson, Angela Powe, Juwanna Powe-Abston; six sons:  five devoted, Monroe (Carolyn) Causey, Jr., Sheldon (Angela) Causey, Scott (Aldena) Causey, Greg (Melissa) Causey, Sherrod Causey, and Luther (Gloria) Jones; 34 grandchildren, two devoted, Bee Jay Woullard and Demetria Causey; a special grandson, who was raised as his own, Cleshawn (Melissa) Causey; 48 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn (George) Roscoe; sisters-in-law, Delois Bolden and Clara Edelman Lewis; a devoted friend, Willie B.
