MARY JANE STRONG of Louin, MS was born on July 21, 1938 to George Harrison and Gertie McSwain in Lumberton, MS. She departed her earthly life at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at approximately 10:00 AM.
“Pig,” as many knew her, grew up in Beaumont, MS and was educated in Perry County. During her early years, she joined Bolton Chapel Methodist Church of Beaumont, MS. After uniting in marriage to the late George Kurtiss Strong Sr., she relocated. She was a homemaker and an outstanding cook. She loved planting flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son; George Kurtiss Strong, Jr., and a brother, Cleo Bolton.
She is survived by two sons; Gary Strong (Sharon Lucas) of Chicago, IL and Dexter (Ruby) Strong of Ellisville, MS. Twelve grandchildren: Techika Rhodes, Shemekia Strong, Jennifer Keyes, Rhonda Keyes, Bobbie Carmichael, Danny Autman, Patrick Keyes, TaSchaunda (Walter), Candice (Rokimo), Karonda (Troy), Nisan and George. Ten great grandchildren: Caprice, Aleta, Katrina, Tiara, Kaya, Isis, Charlie, Dallas, Ethan, and Ricki.
She is also survived by her sister in law: Nora Jane Bolton of Beaumont, MS, a host of other grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to cherish her memory forever.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Turner Funeral Home in Beaumont, MS. Rev. Danny Ray Bolton officiated the services, and interment followed at Bolton Cemetery. There was a viewing period for Mrs. Strong Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Turner Funeral Home, 1501 Jones Avenue, Beaumont MS.
