Marty Lorenzo Brown, also known as “Shorty,” was born October 6, 1969 to Clinton and Joyce Brown of Buckatunna, MS. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Cornelious and Harriet Brown and Joe C. and Carrie Loper.
At an early age, he joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. E. J. Jordan and was an active Junior Usher.
Our beloved Marty departed this life on September 19, 2023 surrounded by family in Buckatunna, MS.
Marty graduated from State Line High School in State Line, MS in 1987. He was a seismographer for 36 years. He traveled throughout the United States during his professional life and was also fluent in Spanish. Before his untimely passing, Marty was employed with Bay Geophysical as a Head Linesman.
Marty had a kind, gentle, and pure heart. He was always willing to help others in any way he could; all while asking for nothing in return. His family and friends lovingly called him “Shorty.” He enjoyed barbecuing, cooking, hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He accepted Christ into his life, and now a crown awaits for him.
Marty leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted parents, Clinton and Joyce Brown of Buckatunna, MS; his brother: Lamont Brown of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters: Kim Davis of State Line, MS and Shyretha Brown of Schaumburg, IL; one nephew: Markeim Davis of State Line, MS; one niece: Ashley Davis Pittman of Meridian, MS; three aunts: Gracie Loper of State Line, MS, Annie P. Nelson of Quitman, MS, and Shirley Wimbush of Slingerlands, NY; a special friend, Nicki Martin of Murfreesboro, TN, and many cousins and friends who will dearly remember him.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in State Line, MS, with Rev. W.E. Rankins as the officiant. Interment will follow at State Line Cemetery in State Line, MS.
The viewing period will be Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the church. prior to the funeral.
