Obituary

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

THESE verses from the 23rd Psalm (KJV) comprised what would be MRS. LENA HUNDLEY’S favorite Bible Scripture. Born on May 1, 1926 to the union of the late Mr. Floyd and Mrs. Sallie (nee Patterson) Johnson in Waynesboro, MS, she was one of seven children; three girls and four boys.

MRS. LENA HUNDLEY completed high school and married Mr. Joe V. Hundley. During her lifetime, she worked in various occupations:  as an employee of Wells-Lamont, at a group home, and as a caretaker in the health care industry. She was also a foster parent.

She was a missionary who enjoyed spreading God’s Word and an avid reader. She would sometimes read up to 6 or 7 hours a day.

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, God called Mrs. Hundley to her eternal home.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hundley was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, two sisters, and three children:  Angela Gail Hundley, Melvin Hundley, and Yvonne Chapman.

She is survived by three children:  Joyce Carter, Joe T. Hundley, Audrey Hundley, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, her half sister:  Annie Mae Washington, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke MB Church in Waynesboro, with Rev. Donald E. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens.
