KHYARIE AHMAD RODGERS died unexpectedly March 11, 2023 on Dr. Deborrah Hyde Avenue in Laurel, MS. He was only 18 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Khyarie was born on October 11, 2004 to Mary Louise Blakney and Nathan Verdell Rodgers in Laurel, MS.
Khyarie was funny, loving, and “warm hearted.” He was kind, caring, and an incredibly generous son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed gaming on his PlayStation and spending time with his loving family, especially his nephew August and his grandmother, Rose Mary. Khyarie was handy around the house, a true “Mr. Fix It.” He was thoughtful, had a brave soul, and will be missed and remembered by many lives he touched.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents: Mr. Walter Blakney, Mr. Harvey Lee (JoAnna) Washington, Mrs. Wanda Ann Rodgers, and one brother: Wanya Blakney.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted mother: Ms. Mary Blakney of Laurel, MS, father: Nathan Rodgers of Waynesboro MS, maternal grandmother: Rose Mary Blakney of Laurel MS, paternal grandfather: Freddie Rodgers of Waynesboro, MS, one brother: Ja’Quaveon Watson, one sister: Carenza Pollock of Laurel, MS, five (5) aunts: Renee Pough, Shoronda Rodgers both of Waynesboro, MS, LaTarsha Barlow, Tracy Patterson of Gulfport, MS, and Rosie Lee Barlow of Los Angeles, CA; two uncles: John (Brenda) Barlow of Jacksonville, FL and Robert E. Staten of Meridian, MS, one nephew: August Pollock of Laurel, MS , and a host of other relatives, cousins, and friends .
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Laurel, MS. with Dr. Michael Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery #2 in Laurel.
There will be a viewing period Friday evening, March 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home, and Saturday morning, March 25, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church.
