Keith Devair Weathers

KEITH DEVAIR WEATHERS, affectionately known as “Spoon,” was born March 2, 1959 to James Payton and the late Annie Weathers.  Upon completing high school in 1977, he enrolled at Alcorn State University.  He also served in the United States Navy.

An avid reader, Mr. Weathers not only liked sports, he was extremely fond of analyzing them.  Due to his love of reading, he read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and could quote different Scriptures effortlessly.  He was a lively person and enjoyed making people laugh.  A holder of several odd jobs, he was mainly a transmission mechanic.

On November 9, 2022, “Spoon” was called to his eternal journey at Forrest General Hospital.

He is survived by his father:  Rev. James Payton, three brothers:  Victor, Vincent, and Thomas; four sisters:  LaWanda, Latonia, Angela, and Yolise, along with his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke MB Church in Waynesboro, with Rev. Larry Pickens and Rev. Donald E. Miller officiating.  Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery.  There will be a viewing period Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
