John Michael Daniels

Mr. John Michael Daniels was born August 2, 1966 at Wayne General Hospital. He departed this life on March 1, 2023 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. 

“MICHAEL,” as he was known, was a veteran of the US Army. He was a plumber by trade. He started his plumbing journey under Robert Jordan, owner and operator of Jordan Plumbing. He worked with Mr. Jordan for 10 years. Michael often talked about the different things Mr. Jordan taught him. In one of the many conversations he shared with his sister, he spoke of how glad he was of Mr. Jordan teaching him to work on plumbing in a house. 
 

After a while, Michael decided to step out on his own and start his own business known as “DANIELS PLUMBING.”  His plumbing business was his heart, but he also loved to write poetry. He’d sign his work as “JMD,” “Supremely Michael,” or “World Class Poet.”  
 

Here are a couple of his poems, as shared from his family:

     “WHAT HAPPENED TO ME CAN HAPPEN TO YOU”

I found joy in the time of sorrow,

Where there was none, now I have hope for tomorrow,

I found a true and righteous friend,

Who no matter what would be there till the end.

I found a man who would wipe the tear from my eye,

Even if he did have to come down from the sky. 

I found a place where I could rest from all my labor,

When sometimes I was turned away by my neighbor.

I found someone who would stand by my side,

When others felt it would hurt their pride.

I also found someone who would understand,

When the world wouldn’t lend a hand.

So now that you know I’ve found something true,

Just remember “what happened to me can happen to you.”

               “AT LAST HEAVEN”

Every since I’ve been able to understand,

People tell me heaven isn’t only for the rich man.

Those great stories are still being told,

That the beautiful streets are paved with gold.

When the saints grow weary cause they’ve did their best,

It’s a place where they can find eternal rest.

This is where Jesus will forever sit on the throne,

That’s why I want to make it to my beautiful home.

This is where we can praise our Savior every day,

Cause when he died on the cross he showed us the way.

So one morning when you rise to eat bread of the unleaven,

You can smile and say, “At Last Heaven.”

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at New Rock Baptist Church in Aquilla, AL, with Rev. Horace Turner, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Fate Turner Cemetery, also in Millry, AL.

There will be a wake for Mr. Daniels Friday, March 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
