A TIME TO BE BORN:
Mr. Jefferson Dawkins, Jr., also known as "Pretty" and "Tex", was born on County Farm Rd. in Waynesboro, MS to the late Jefferson Mack and Cozet Dawkins on May 11, 1939.
A TIME TO DIE:
Mr. Dawkins, 84 years old, of Waynesboro, MS, departed his life on August 21, 2023 at Pineville Health & Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, MS.
A TIME TO WORK:
Mr. Dawkins was a retired security guard for Wayne County High School.
A TIME TO CHERISH MEMORIES:
Three children: Samantha Dawkins Rogers (Bobby), one granddaughter, Krystal Louise West (Eric) and two great grandsons: Broderick and Bryson West.
John W. Dawkins (Kay), two granddaughters: Raqqya Jasmine and Angela Janae, and one grandson: John Anthony Dawkins.
Jeffery Dawkins (Cevelia), Orlando Harris (Brittany) and Demarcus Harris, two grandchildren who preceded him in death, and Jakayla
Dawkins and Jeffery Dawkins, Jr.
One sister: Claretna Vaxter of Richmond, TX (two sisters and one brother in law preceded him in death: Louise (George) Chambers of Waynesboro, MS and Ann Dawkins of Compton, CA).
Five brothers: Melton (Shirley) Dawkins and Robert Dawkins both of Waynesboro, MS, McArthur (Mable) Dawkins of Columbus, MS, Herbert (Gloria) Dawkins of Birmingham, AL, and Clinton (Selester) Dawkins of Raleigh, MS (one brother and one sister in law preceded him in death: Henry Earl (Frankie) Dawkins of Los Angeles, CA).
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:30 PM at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Donald E. Miller. Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery.
There will be a viewing period Friday, September 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
