Jason Husband Obituary

Jason Maurice Husband nicknamed ‘Buddy’ in which the dictionary defines as a “a close friend,” or “friendly” is the son of Thomas J. Husband and Elvie J. Ducksworth Husband of Laurel Mississippi. Jason entered this world with his twin sister, Jessica, on August 4th, 1987. He was the smallest in weight of the two at birth, but with a lot of love and nourishment, all the places on him lacking in weight were soon filled.

Jason was well known in his community as a child and not afraid. He was full of energy and not short in speech. He was often seen standing outside with his glasses on inside the fence of his parents’ home, holding on to the fence connectors and greeting neighbors or strangers that passed by. The greeting you got depended on how you looked, approached, or greeted him. If you were mean to him, he’d probably reply with some disapproval in speech; but if you were nice, then you were on his good side, and he may or may not insult you.

Through the years, like almost any other teenager or child pressured with life and change, Jason began to find his own way. His behavior was not always approved of, yet he loved and was loved and appreciated. He was a giver by nature because he enjoyed giving. He was also a forgiver. You and he could fall out in one minute and by the second minute, he would talk to you, help you, and give to you as if nothing happened. Jason was also extra thoughtful when it came to the needs of others. Helping others achieve their goals often ended with him suffering the penalty. But nothing stopped him from persevering and believing in who he was and what he knew to be attainable or right. Jason knew the Lord and whereas many of us knew Jason in the flesh and how he could be when being Jason in an earth suit trying to survive, God knew him by his heart, his sacrifices, even at the expense or discomfort of others. Some of us can testify as well. Jason was unequivocally Jason aka Buddy whether filtered or unfiltered. He lived his life. He was comical, protective, loved, and eager to assist wherever and share his knowledge. But just as living has an entrance date, so death leaves us with an expiration date.

Jason “Buddy” Maurice Husband departed this world on Friday, February 9th, 2024. While Jason may be absent from us today in the flesh, he is present with the Lord in spirit; and his family will continue to hold memories of him close to their hearts.

Jason is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Husband Jr, his grandparents, some uncles, aunts, and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Thomas and Elvie Husband of Laurel; siblings (sisters), Linda McCray (James), Lorraine Rogers (Kenneth), Marie Knight (Kevin), April Husband (lives in Tennessee), and Jessica Taylor (Percy) along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Laurel and other areas. Jason fulfilled his purpose and took his bow. He will be missed and often celebrated in memory.
