Mr. James C. Harris was born August 3, 1935, in McComb, MS to the Late Charlie Lee and Alma Harris. He departed this life on Sunday, March 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving and devoted family in St. Martin, MS. During his teenage years the family moved and relocated to Moss Point, MS. He attended Magnolia High School.

Mr. Harris was a loving husband, father, grandfather to his family. Mr. Harris retired from VT Halter Marine after fifty-six years of dedicated services as a 1st class painter, supervisor, and foreman.

Mr. Harris joined New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Merrill, MS, where he became a member and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. James Moye, Sr.  His favorite hobby was painting and sitting in his car listening to the blues.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Robert and Jessie Harris, one sister Willie Mae Brown, one son James Harris, Ir and one grandson Suave Anderson: his mother-in-law Ms. Ruth L. Moye and father-in-law Alfonzia Griffin, one brother-in-law Roy Otis Griffin, three sisters-in-law Ernestine Harris, Annie Ruth Harris and Myrtis Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of forty two years, Linda F. Moye-Harris; fourteen children DeNeise Simmons, Teadra Scott, and Jason Scott of Biloxi, MS; Willie Scott, Sr. of Virgina Beach, VA, Sidney Dortch, Sr of Lucedale, MS Brenda Harris of Gautier, MS, Evelyn McClain, David (Wanda) Harris of Moss Point, MS, Tereasa (Delta) Riley of Nashville, IN Trina (Jermaine) Ford of Chicago, IL, James C. ( ) of, Jermaine (Candance) Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Mike (Amy) Anderson of Missoula, MA, Bridgette (Thad) Smith of Newport News, VA.

One brother Tyree Harris of Moss Point, MS, four sisters Mary (Ernest) Malone, Linda (Richard) Young of Moss Point, MS, Joyce (Stefon) Ross of Pasadena, CA, and Alma Harris of Greenville, MS two brothers Charlie Willams of McComb, MS, and Tyree Harris of Moss Point, MS, Six brothers-in-law Billy (ohnnie) Moye of Atlanta, G7, Rev. Alfonzia (Lynette) Moye, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, Ronnie (Barbara) Moye, Rev. Jimmy (Cora) Griffin, St, Willie (Wendy) Riley of Lucedale, MS, eight sisters-in-law Joy Moye of Lucedale, MS, Onita Davenport of Beaumont, MS. Fifty-three grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren. Two dear and devoted friends Aundray Jack and Barry Moody, Sr.  A host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

JC was a loving husband, father, Pawpaw, Captain, Boss Man, Jake, uncle, and friend to many.

He was always a leader and always supervised many family activities, but most of all he was deeply loved by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Greater First Baptist Church in Moss Point, MS. Bishop Kelvin Bolden will officiate the services. Interment will follow at First Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, also in Moss Point. 

There will be a viewing period Monday, March 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the church.
