Hettie Taylor-Mitchell Obituary

Hettie B. (Muh) Gray, Taylor, Mitchell was born November 18, 1929 to the late Nettie Russell Gray and Johnny Gray in the St. John Community Wayne Co. Mississippi. She was a member of New West Point Baptist Church and a beloved Mother of the Church. She trusted and believed in God with all her heart. Her favorite song:  “God is Able”, and her favorite color is Lime Green.

Hettie B, known to many as "Muh," departed  this life February 13, 2024. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husbands: Arlee Taylor and Robert Mitchell. Three sons: Terry, Tracy and Larry: her Grandson:  Marlo Sargent; granddaughter: Demarius (Joe) Taylor Mcfadden. Three Brothers: Walter Quitman Gray, J.D. Frost, and William T. Gray; Two sisters Izetta Jackson and Lula B. frost.

Muh Leaves to cherish her Loving and Caring memories Her Devoted 8 children, Jessie (Ollie Mae), Mildred, Faye, Willie Mae, Valerie, Del and Amy of Waynesboro, Ms, Mavis Taylor Smooth of Slidell, La. Her only sibling Rosa Lee Hayes, 17 Grand Children, 22 Great Grand Children, a very Devoted and Best friend Mrs. Mary Walker of Mobile, AL, a God Daughter Wanda Pough of Mobile, AL, and 2 Daughters from another mother:  Yolanda Perkins and Phyllis Dawson.

Thank You Lord for blessing us for 94 years with the Love of our life.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at New West Point Baptist Church, with Rev. Chance Taylor as the officiant. Interment followed at The Taylor Family Cemetery. 
 

There was a viewing period Friday, February 16, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at New West Point Baptist Church, and Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, also at New West Point Baptist Church. 
 

By request of the family, the funeral was live-streamed.
