MR. HERBERT MOODY, JR. was born in Clarke County, MS on October 18, 1938 to the union of the late Mr. Herbert Moody, Sr. and Mollie B. (nee Shanks) Moody. He liked to hunt and fish and read his Bible everyday. He was a self employed concrete finisher. He transitioned January 21, 2023 at Wayne General Hospital.
“Snap,” as he was commonly known, is survived by his wife, Margaret Moody; two children: Jacque Moody of Starkville, MS and Shelton Moody of the DeSoto community (Shubuta); five stepchildren: Demitra Jones and Nayia Wright of Atlanta, GA, Tykerra Arrington, TeShaun Powe, and Corey Wright, all of Waynesboro; a grandson who was a special buddy: Logan Wright; grandchildren: Skyler, Justin, Taylor, Jayden, and thirteen other grandchildren; two sisters: Ardell Moody of Denver, CO, and Fronie Moody-Qualls, Bogue Chitto, MS; one brother: George Washington Moody of Hattiesburg, MS; a special friend, Mr. C. W. Jordan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his siblings: Charlie Moody, Ollie Moody, Oliver Moody, Odell Moody, Herman Moody, Lula Lucille Moody, and Faythene Moody.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Living Church of God of Braishertown (formerly Family Life Church) in Quitman. Interment will follow at Archusa Memorial Gardens, also in Quitman.
There will be a viewing period for Mr. Moody Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home, and Monday morning, January 30, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church, prior to the funeral.
The family requests all attendees to the funeral wear a mask.
