ARDELL McFARLAND NELSON was born January 6, 1932 in Shubuta, MS to the late Oscar McFarland and   Cordell Cooley. 
 

She joined Greenhill Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health failed. She loved to cook, and in her free time, she also loved making quilts. 
 

She peacefully departed this life on February 25, 2022 at the age of 90 at her home in Shubuta, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Houston Nelson, two (2) sons:  Arthur Lee Nelson and Robert Lee Nelson, and all siblings but one (1), who resides in Altadena, CA. 

She leaves to cherish her fond memories one sister:  Jeanie Brewster of Altadena CA; four sons:  Fred (Rosemary) Nelson, Willie B. (Mary) Nelson, Chucky (Tracy) Nelson all of Shubuta MS, and Cleveland (Yvonne) Nelson of Waynesboro MS; two daughters:  Patricia (Billy) Walley of State Line, MS and Diane Brown of Shubuta MS; one god daughter, Annie Jean Powe of Shubuta MA; 13 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 
 

Funeral services were held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Little Zion Cemetery in Shubuta MS, with Rev. Darin Rogers as the officiant.
