Annie Rankin Obituary

Mrs. Annie C. Rankin was born in
Louisville, Mississippi, to John and Lula
Miller on March 12, 1935. She was
married to the late J.B. Turner and later
in life, she married the late Rochelle
Rankin. She was preceded in death by both parents; sisters: Louise Aaron, Annie B. Miller, Lillie Mae Miller; brothers: Jack Miller, George Miller, Harry Ruffin, and her daughter Lynn Blakely.

Annie was a member of New West Point M.B. Church, Waynesboro, Mississippi. She received the honorary Pillar of the Community Award in June 2019.


She leaves to carry on her legacy her three daughters: Shirley L. Butler (special and devoted caregiver), Cathy Canley (dedicated), and Elder Cindy Miller all of Waynesboro, Mississippi; one sister Willie Mae McGill; two brothers: William George Ruffin, and James Ruffin of Waynesboro, MS; seven granddaughters including her special granddaughter Lana LaTrice Rankins with whom she shared a special bond; three special nieces: Bobbie McGill, Annie Pearl West, and Debbie Miller; nine great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

“Mrs. Hun” loved to plant flowers, go fishing, and speeding time with her cousin Elmer Lou McDougle. She was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact, and will be deeply missed. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM at New West Point Baptist Church in Waynesboro, with Elder Cindy Miller as the officiant. Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery. 

Masks must be worn by funeral attendees, and hand sanitizer will be administered upon entry. Social distancing protocols will be employed within the facility.
