MR. ALEX JAMES McLEOD was born September 27, 1936 in Clarke County, MS to the union of the late Mr. Robert Alvin and Janie (nee Robinson) McLeod. After graduating high school, he attended the former Jackson State College (Jackson State University). He also served in the United States Army.
He liked to watch movies and westerns, work on cars, but he also enjoyed sleeping. Otherwise, he loved working before he retired. As a matter of fact, Mr. McLeod was 83 when he finally retired, and it was a reluctant action due to his knees.
Mr. McLeod passed away July 7, 2023 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He is survived by his wife: Annette McLeod; three children: Tonya Harris, Darryl Harris, and Monique (Kerry “Duke”) McLeod Dawkins; six sisters: Annie Margaret Avery, Lois McLeod, Ollie Mae (Ollie James) Carter, Manletta “Jimmie” Howell, Camaletta (Anthony) Bishop, and Gloria Cooley.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert McLeod Jr., Joseph Glennie McLeod, and Fred Marvin Woulard, one sister: Catherine Stanberry, and one son: Melvin Land, in addition to his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home, with Rev. Willie Kinslow officiating. Interment will follow at Waynesboro Cemetery.
The viewing period will occur Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
