Clifton Patton was born to Mr English and Mrs. Lottie (Ray) Patton on the 15th day of March 1948. At a young age, he joined Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized by Pastor Theodis McSwain.
Clifton attended Riverview High School and graduated in 1969. He continued his education at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS. Soon afterwards, Clifton joined the U.S. Military, and he served in the Army helping to protect his country for twenty years. After retiring from the United States Army, Clifton worked for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for twenty more years. Upon retiring from the MS Department of Corrections, Clifton continued to serve and protect while working as a security guard at Wayne General Hospital. Clifton enjoyed fishing every day of his life and spending time wth his family and friends. He was well known in the community and surrounding areas as the "clean”dressed man, who loved to share laughter and love as well as help others.
Clifton was united in holy matrimony to Verta Blakley and was a devoted husband. They resided in Buckatunna, MS. To this union one son was born, Clifton James Patton, and Clifton was the best father a son could have ever had.
Clifton was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Mrs. Verta Patton; his parents Mr. & Mrs. English & Lottie Patton; Mr. Bobby Patton; Mr. Charles Earl Ray; Mr. Manuel Earl Ray; Ms. Lorene Patton, Cleveland Patton; Mr. Oscar Blakley, Jr.; and Mr. & Mrs. Oscar, III and Sylvia Blakley, whom Clifton loved dearly.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Clifton James Patton; his baby girl, Zion Caver; Glenda (Henry) Hardy; Milton (Vanessa) Blakley, Karol (Wayne) Barlow; Sherrel Caver; M (Bennie) Gandy; the late Oscar Blakley Ir's wife-Chundra; Linda J. Gray; Barbara A. Patron;) Patton; Bobby Patton, It; Lisa A. Patton; Angela L. Tucker; Jeremiah Patton; Mary Scot Mil Melbourne, FL; Minerva Scott of Oakland, CA; Robert Earl (Gloria) Scott of Williston, El; Ran Scott of Lowell, MA; Roosevelt Scott of Charlton, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Philadelphia MB Church in Buckatunna, MS, with Rev. Darron Chapman officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
The viewing period was held Friday, April 12, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Turner Funeral Home.
